Megan E. Green, Esq. is a criminal trial lawyer who concentrates her practice in the state and federal, trial and appellate courts in Maryland

Meg 2009

Megan E. Green, Esq. is a graduate of the Catholic University of America, Columbia School of Law and has her undergraduate degree from the University of Rochester.  She is admitted to practice in the State of Maryland, the United States District Court for the District of Maryland and the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit.

Prior to being admitted to the bar, Ms. Green spent two years as a law clerk at MarcusBonsib, LLC where she drafted numerous trial and appellate briefs and assisted Robert C. Bonsib, Esq. in preparing for the trial of a number of complex and high profile state and federal cases.

Since becoming a member of the Bar she has served as co-counsel with Robert C. Bonsib, Esq. in the successful defense of a vice-principal of a Prince George's County elementary school who had been accused of inappropriate contact with a first grade student.  After a 4 day jury trial, Ms. Green and Mr. Bonsib won an acquittal for their client.

While still a law clerk, Ms. Green drafted a Petition for Writ of Certiorari to the United States Supreme Court which was submitted by Robert C. Bonsib, Esq. on behalf of his client and resulted in the Supreme Court issuing a summary remand of the matter back to the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit.

Ms. Green has written appellate briefs in criminal matters currenlty pending before both the Maryland appellate courts and the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit.   She was co-counsel and the primary author of a brief in the Fourth Circuit Court Appeals which, in May 2009, resulted in the Fourth Circuit reversing the sentencing decision of the trial court in a multi-million dollar tax fraud prosecution.  The matter has been remanded to the district court with instructions to conduct a new sentencing hearing.

While a law student and while serving as a law clerk at MarcusBonsib, LLC, Ms. Green was a major participant in the preparation of a sentencing memorandum that was critical in convincing a federal judge to impose a one year home detention sentence in a cocaine conspiracy case where the government sought to convince the judge to impose a 10 year jail sentence.

Ms. Green is a member of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, the Maryland Criminal Defense Attorney's Association, the Maryland State Bar Association, and its Litigation and Criminal Law Sections, the Prince George's County Bar Association and the Thurgood Marshall Inn of Court.

While in law school, Ms. Green served an intern at the United States Department of Justice, Criminal Division.

Also, while in law school, as member of the school's trial team, she received an award as the Best Overall Advocate among 40 advocates at the University of Puerto Rico Invitational Criminal Trial Advocacy Competition in 2007 co-sponsored by the ABA Criminal Law Section.

Ms. Green can be seen regularly in the Maryland District and Circuit Courts where she represents clients charged with a variety of criminal offenses.
